Self Care = Self Love Workshop

The Self Care = Self Love Workshop is for anyone who would like to take an active step towards taking better care of themselves in any and/or all of the areas of physical, sexual, psychological/mental, emotional/relationships, spiritual, workplace, homelife and financial self care.

In a world where the people in power benefit off of us not taking care of ourselves, doing so is a revolutionary act.

The Self Care = Self Love Workshop is an opportunity for you to intentionally engage in a deep self assessment and create plan for your self-care. (And spoiler, self-care is actually self love!) We will go through different areas of self-care and what that may mean to you when it comes to: psychological/mental, physical, sexual, emotional/relationships, workplace, homelife, spiritual and financial self-care. We will be naming different ways in which you can personally address each area of self-care and which ones will be right for you.

One of the most important ways in which we, as humans living in an oppressive society, can dismantle these systems and thrive beyond only working to survive, is to take care of ourselves. In a world where the people on power benefit off of us not taking care of ourselves, doing so is a revolutionary act. It’s an act of rebellion through self-love. This workshop addresses self-care and self-love in a deep, truthful and active way. Participants will leave this workshop with a written plan of action and goals to work towards. This will be a decolonized and liberated space.

Participant Takeaways

“Being mindful, relaxed, letting people in and voicing myself.”

“Inspiring (and attainable!) goals for 2019.”

“Categorizing self care was powerful for me. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by “goal setting” so this was helpful.”

“Self-care is a worthwhile form of empowerment and it makes you and your community stronger.”

“Talking my feelings out with like minded individuals was very helpful and inspiring. It reminded me that we are all in this together.”

“Being able to feel comfortable enough to share my true feelings is something that I have been looking for in a long time. And vulnerability was protected.”

“It’s incredible to be able to participate in the workshop from anywhere. It helps to feel more connected to folks outside my area and it was affirming to hear all of the similarities in our lives and consider the differences. The time and space to reflect on my self care is so valuable and needed.”

“The biggest takeaway is that I’m not alone. We are all still trying to figure out this crazy marathon of a life.”

“The information that stuck to me was that self-care is multi-faceted. It isn’t one or two things. There are many ways one could/should care for themselves and demonstrate self love.”

“I think this is one of the first times I feel inspired to take care of myself. I certainly do things for my self care but this is the first time I feel like I have clear and actionable long term goals in this area. This is also one of the first times I have spoken these goals to others. It feels there is a level of accountability that I haven’t felt around self care before.”

“Considering ways to interrupt and redirect negative thoughts and self-doubt feels really important and a good first assignment for myself.”
